Batty JohnMy wife, April and I have four children; two daughters, Micah and Kendra, and two sons, Jonah and Elijah.  We are a family that loves to laugh; we like our movies and books and can play a mean game of Risk.

I was born and raised in Northwest Indiana and in the church and summer camp. Before my freshman year in high school, my father decided to attend the Bristol Road School of Preaching in Flint, Michigan. Two years later, we moved to Waterford, MI so my father could preach for the Sylvan Lake Church of Christ. On a whim, I attended Michigan Christian College in 1989 and on a second whim, I stayed there for six years.  As part of the chorus, I was able to tour and visit churches from Minnesota to New York to Georgia and even Canada. Also while in college, my parents relocated to Illinois and began preaching for the Sullivan Church of Christ and I met April, an elder's daughter at the time.  We had known each other for almost three years before I realized that God had placed my wife in my life already. Prior to getting married, April attended Oklahoma Christian for two years while I found gainful employment.  After our wedding, we spent nearly three years in Holland, MI before moving to Arizona.  Before we moved, we volunteered to teach Bible school classes, worked with the summer camp in western Michigan, coached teams and wrote questions for the annual Bible Bowl competition between the local churches.

Presently, my father is the preacher at the Prescott Valley Church of Christ. We moved here in 2000 and Surprise Church of Christ is our third Church of Christ family.  I have served as a deacon in our prior two spiritual families and we have always volunteered as teachers of various age groups, organized VBS programs for several years and led an outreach potluck ministry.  My wife and I are board members for Copper Basin Bible Camp and Helping Hands for CBBC.

We are all certainly open to any questions that you might have, however, be prepared if you ask Elijah, his answer could be measured in hours.
